Employee Review & Complaint of ADT's New Pay Policy


  Yes, ADT takes great care of its sales force. Every year they come up with a new pay scale to compensate their employees. Normally to make us the sale person to work harder to receive the same amount of yearly pay that we have received the year prior. They call this motivating their cattle.  This year it is, if a customer is moving and calls directly to the sales person to have a system at their new home; ADT, now says it is not self generated lead (SGL) because they are a customer that is moving point "A" to point "B".  In the years that I have been in sales, I have not ever heard of other companies says that these are not self generated, no not ADT. 

  So what will happen, the ADT sales rep will not mention the relocation package that is promise to the customer so that he can get pay the bonus pay as if it was a SGL, which means, now the customer is treated like a herd of sheep. Yep, the sales reps will have less concern about helping their clients after the sixth month after the install. So you the customer now can say what good is from a large security company that doesn't care about the standard pay practices towards their sales rep and what is driving a company to reduce pay and still charges top dollars for equipment and monthly monitoring fees.

  I still believe that the top leadership of ADT heads is turds that need to be flushed down the toilets.

  1. I am an ADT sales rep in Florida, and things really are getting bad. Things are so against the success of the individual sales rep, that we have a sales team that is coming apart at the seams. YET, we get emails that are nothing more than an Amway,cheer-leading speech that tries to motivate us. Looks like its time to update the resume'.

  2. Its not the company I had hoped it would be when I signed on. On my very best months I clear 4K. Most of the time its more like a 2K/month job. I've had units stolen out from under me. Cancellations, incorrect commission payouts... the list goes on and on. Our relationship with install is tenuous at best, which is a function of the process ADT has, not really b/c the install team is a bad group of people. No expense reimbursement for miles, or anything else really for that matter. What I can't figure out is how state labor departments haven't involved in this company and how they treat their employees.

    I did an analysis a couple of months ago when I got the figures from our regional emailed to me on how much the "creme of the crop" from our 120 sales person territory did on "really good months". The very best sales person in our region, if they could duplicate their efforts for 11 more months, would have made about 80K. Now only about 20 people were even on the list, out of 120 total reps for the region, and these were the "big producers". The #1 person was a high 5 figure producer if that person could keep it up all year. Its not a job folks, its more like a hobby that pays a little.

    Unsatisfied in the Northeast...

    1. Why don't you guys organize? Some sites have gone with the IBEW and are negotiating terms and conditions of employment. www.ibew.org

    2. That's a fair comment your part. Its a little unusual to see sales people organize, but in this case it probably warrants a look. If the company paid fairly for true expenses on the job I'd be happier, but it doesn't and I'm just burning through cars doing this.

      I've never organized a union before, is there a process? How does it work?

  3. I currently work there and things have gotten terrible. I have always worked on commission and have never had this much stress, you would think they are paying you a salary they way they act.
