ADT Security and the Unions (IBEW), are they for Real?

To Anonymous.

You wrote a comment on my blog site ...
"Why don't you guys organize? Some sites have gone with the IBEW and are negotiating terms and conditions of employment. www.ibew.org"

Please, Anonymous, representative of IBEW,  or anyone that is in sales that works for ADT that has knowledge of any negotiating terms and conditions of employment between the sales department of ADT and IBEW, leave your results here. Do include  the who, when, how, and what was the outcome so that the readers of this blog can make up their minds.  Of course I'm looking specifically for the results at ADT Security and especially for the different offices in USA that target the sales department of ADT. I do not care for unions, but it might be the only way for the sales personnel not to get it in the rear again and again when ADT is only looking for profit at the expense of its sales force.

  3. A contract is several pages long, the one in Atlanta is 28 pages. For an example it has pay scales depending on years of service. Vacation and time off depending on seniority (years of service). Call out after hours at a 3 hour minimum at 1 1/2 times normal rate. A grievance procedure and arbitration. Paid holidays and retirement plan. Insurance (health) and no strike / no lockout clause. These are just examples of what may be obtained through collective bargaining.
Most folks who are not affiliated with unions have a misconception of what unions really are.....just what they are told by companies and old movies.
The workers run the IBEW. Workers, with assistance from trained negotiators, negotiate a contract. Only workers affected by a certain contract have any say on such contract.
All you hear about union corruption, common strikes, and overpriced dues are myths. Over 99% of IBEW contracts are settled with no work stoppages. Dues are set by the members.
The IBEW works for the membership. We elect all officers from the workforce. No dues go to political party or candidate. We the workers run the show.
Contact an organizer through the website: www.ibew.org you will get information and can make up your mind after a conversation with a local organizer, no pressure……the choice is yours and your coworkers. You have protections from the National Labor Relations Board and your local organizer will explain how an organizing drive works.
We in the IBEW are here to help workers.

    1. Sounds like the union that the installers and the service techs have are weak and have no backbone. sounds like you all should fire the one you hove and get another one

    2. Yes, i am an ADT installer, and this union is a joke and was never needed to begin with. Out of 19 employees, 13 do nothing but bitch and moan and think they're being treated poorly. Idk how though. We're provided with trucks, fuel cards, benefits, and most make over 1300 per week. Most mail bitch about drive times, but you can't fix stupid and now all of us that make/made a decent living, have to suffer for others crying all the time. Smh
